I am a new revit user, and am having huge issues getting my lineweights to read.  Any suggestions?  I have put our offices standard line weights in the "line weights" box and have also assigned objects lineweights in the "object styles" dialog box, but they are still wrong.  Do you have to go into each family and change all line weights to make things read?

thanks,  shelley

Hi Shelly, we have been using Revit Structure for the past 10 months and we just got around to setting up our own template.  The line weights are controlled by setting the equivilant you want from inches (like autocad pens) to milimeters under the >>Settings>>Line Weights (Model Line Weights, Perspective Line Weights, and Annotation Line Weights) tabs for the up to 16 line types or pens.  We set them to the same number we calculated, across each scale like the default settings show.  If you are going to translate to dwgs; you must assign the pen number to translate to the corresponding AutoCadd pen color on the .ctb file your are going to use to plot dwgs.  You must also define what the number will be in plan vs. profile or section.  The pens plot exactly like our AutoCadd pens.  It took a while to get to this point, but the disadvantage is that translations to dwgs won't assign pens to subcategories yet.  I have posted this issue along with others on this site and will on autodesk revit's as well.  If you have any questions please feel free to email me.  magonzo1 magonzalez@bhinc.com
