does anyone know where I can find a comprehensive I-beam/ T-beam library, my MEP package doesent seem to have them and all I can find on this site is a generic I beam, which I have to modify for each different instance, and and only acts as a coulmn, not a beam

I don't know the MEP program or what it contains. Is this a one time deal for you to need I-beams? Or do you need it consistently. MEP would definitely be the wrong program if you are doing beams. You'd want Revit Structure.

However, you should be able to either make one for your needs, or convert the one you have found to a beam. Edit the family and select Setting>Family Categories and Parameters. Change from Structural Columto Structural Framing.

Personally, I have tried my best to understand the structural components and that 10' offset and can't seem to grasp the concept. I have made myself just a simple I-Joist (wood framing) that suits my needs and converted it to structural framing. I have another one that I started with a line based generic model and converted it to structural framing. Then, you can draw some simple detail lines in your drawing and use the pick tool to place your beams to length without needing to adjust them.

It works for me, but might not for you.
