Hi, everybody.. I got a few quick questions.. Just wondering is there anybody using revit's schedule for serious quantity surveying stuffs? Any pitfalls? No too sure about the accuracy of Revit's Quantity especially the pre-set areas and volume (e.g. for wall, floor & structures) and is there any way to counter-check or to know how Revit is programmed for those calculation? Open for discussion!

Its defintely feasible however i've never had the need myself so I haven't delved into investigating it. Remember early versions of revit did include quantity surveying software... You are correct with the areas, i have found issues with incorrect (to a degree) reporting of areas... But i know there are people out there using it for this very purpose...

Thanks for your reply, Mr. Spot. Besides Area, I found that volume report sometime give some problems too. If you try to create a few simple structural family with extrusion (with solid and solid with void) and try the built-in volume report, it failed as it only recognized the full solid volumein both cases!? Of course to some extents, we can use formulas to work out the actual volume extraction but this post question is how reliable the quantity reporting espcially those built-in pre-programmed one?!
