does anyone know why my windows sometimes work correctly and sometimes they don't? i'm working on an existing building where i've drawn the existing windows in the existing phase, demoed them in the demo phase and then am replacing them in the new construction phase. yesterday i was inserting the new windows in the new phase and everything was working out fine, then i opened the model today and the new windows are no longer cutting openings in the wall. they are showing up when i move the cursor over them but they look like they're buried in the wall. here's another problem i'm having. i've attached a revit file with a stacked wall that i made that has the phases i described above with the existing and new windows. if you try to move the center window on the 2nd floor (either with the move or align commands) i get an error message that the instance is not cutting anything. what's going on? sometimes the windows work fine but most of the time i am getting error messages! i have wasted a LOT of time trying to figure this out and am starting to get really fed up with revit! please tell me there is a solution to my problem before i totally give up on this!

I'm not seeing the window issue. My guess is its the overides you have set. I've been told not to use a demo phase do the demo in the new work phase other wise revit fills your opening with a new wall but it will be set to a phase prior to your new work so it will appear existing in the new view. the move issue is weird you must have multiple windows ontop of each other because it actually does move the window when I move it after i say delete in the error message the new window is still there, but relocated to the new location.

how do i change the overrides (or how did i add them in the first place?)?? the problem with the demo phase is that i need it in the drawing set. is there another way to show the demo phase then?? i tried moving that window again myself and it still won't move (i get the error meesage that it's not cutting anything and when i click on delete instance, it deletes the window). there ARE multiple windows on top of each other but they are set up with the phasing to show the existing, demo and new.
