In the midst of developing my own revit template....so I would like some more fresh inputs around the world

To your opinion, what to be included to develop a effective and concise template file?

Here is what I have accomplished:

1)150mm thk standard slab,

2)100mm thk standard roof,

3) 125mm thk brickwall (painted), 230mm thk brick (painted), internal partition (painted), fire rated brickwork (2 hr & 4 hr),

4) 900 x 2100mm single leaf door, 1800 x 2100mm double leaf door, overhead shutter,

5) material glass setting for green tinted glass & frosted glass

6) Structural foundation mainly pilecap consists of P1, P2, P3 up to P10...parametric

7) Stuctural Beam: Mainly reinforced concrete

Shadey Structural Column: Mainly reinforced concrete and some basic I beam as well

9) various schedules such as wall, door, window, floor, structural foundation, structural framing, structural column, room area etc.

10) Standard purlin & balustrade profile (in progress)...

Any other great recommendations or ideas so I can incorporate them....Open for discussion and thanks in advance!

Things that I have been adding to my templates recently:

-View Templates (meaning the view settings, IE: View >> Apply View Template)-Symbol Legends (Electrical Symbols, RCP Symbols)

Things that have been there for a while:

-Schedule Templates-Dimension Styles-Text/Annotation/Leader Styles-Plotter Settings-Sheets ready for views

The list goes on.  This should get you going though.  HTH!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

Object styles, line weights, line styles, line patterns, titleblocks etc that you might change from Revit's default.

When we set up our standard template, I just had it open everytime I used Revit and everytime I loades something or changed a setting and thought "I'll do that on every project" I transfered the project standards over to my open template.  After about a week of doing that, I pretty much had my template set up.

 best of luck
