I am an architecture major at UW-Milwaukee starting my sophmore year. My dad is also an architect who owns his own single person firm. He hired me for the summer to help him start setting up and implemeting Revit into his projects. Currently we are running 9.1 but are considering upgrading to 2008. I used 2008 a little bit in a class and have seen a few of the differences but economic investment doesn't seem to be valuable enough. I thought I heard something about problems converting between the two. Any thought or comments are greatly appreciated! Thanks

#1 stay on the current release #2 get your father on Subscription, it is worth it all the way around (including the simple tutorials that are available for free) #3 Teach him what you know and definetly grasp the new features. If you are not a member of AUGI I would suggest that you both sign-up. Great support community.

I agree with both of these guys, you need to stay up to date with the Revit updates. Granted its not that bad yet since your on 9.1, but reading through the fourms some people were using Revit 6 and Revit 8 still, and thats just going to create a ton of issues. I would recomend updating to 2008, if you say that you didnt see anything for an economic investment between 9.1 and 2008 you really didnt do much with 2008. 2008 is much much better than 9.1, I think that its probably the biggest jump that they have done and I have been working with Revit since release 5. Always stay current though. Secondly you said you had a class at UW-Milwaukee that is teaching Revit? Who was your instructor for that class?

Hi There, Have a look at www.revitup.co.za it is a brilliant site with lots of revit info including ROI. You will probably find some info on the differences between 9 and 2008.
