Does any one know how to change the dimension text? With autocad based programs you culd change it through the properties manager and input any string of text that you wanted. in revit i changed the dim to opaque and wrote over it but it looks a little funky.

Revit theoretically won't let you do this. However, there are a few workarounds. One is to create a new dimension style with your text as small as you can get it (1/32" rings a bell for me) then simply place text over it with the opaque option selected. This will hide the dimension. Another is using an invisible font.

And I can't edit what I said because I saw what you said and needed to edit my answer so I didn't look so obviously dumb because I didn't really read your entire thread  Now that I did, I would just make your dimension style text smaller and cover it.
