At our office, and I'm sure in 99% of the offices around the world, we find ourselves doing a lot of scale prints on letter size paper to do some sketch studies in order to revise a design.  I almost ALWAYS get the question "What scale is this?"  Well, it would be really nice if there was a watermark that could be enabled to allow the scale to be printed in the lower right or wherever of the print so that the scale is automagically on the print (especially when doing a "Print Visible Portion"Winking

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!

Editing is not working on the thread options and apparently any end parenthesis I put in ends up being a smiley.  I know I'm sarcastic, but not always Puh

If you are just randomly printing something to a 8.5X11 or even a 11X17 and you dont have it set up as a sheet that your printing, I dont see how knowing a scale will help.  Thought technicly it will be to scale it could be something like 1'0= 1/92" and dont see how that would help.  If you dont have sheets set up so that then you can pull a view in and it tells you the scale, or just knowing that you printed a sheet half size so its half the scale, im not seeing how a watermark scale would help??  I could be inturpreting your question wrong, but when ever we want a to scale drawing that we can scale off, we put it on the sheet.  And just other plotting a scale wouldnt be helpful because of how odd I could possibly be.

have to say that i'm with rkitect on this one. If I am zoomed in on an area of a floor plan and need a higher-up to look at this piece a little closer, I'll often print visible portion zoomed to a percentage that puts it to a real scale.

For instance, floor plan at 1/8" print 200% and I'm showing them a print at 1/4" scale. Somebody wants a footprint to play with while sketching a site and I print 16% and it's at 1/50" scale. Or even simply printing a visible portion at 100% that doesn't include the view title and they want to know the scale.

Basically, the watermark could theoretically read the views scales and the print zoom to figure out the scale that is being printed. This could also be a double-check to make sure that I printed to the right percentage and getting the scale I'm expecting.

Before all of this though, my wishlist is that the "Fit to Page" option would show the percentage it has to zoom to get there. That way if it says 39% I can switch from Letter to 11x17 and it says 54% and then I switch to manual 50% and know it will fit. Or, I have 1/8" scale and 11x17 picked and it says Fit = 44% I know that the biggest I can get it to a true scale is 40% for 1/20th...or architecture scale 1/16th  at 50% if I don't mind cropping, etc. etc. I used the Fit in AutoCAd for that reason all the tim...Fit=178 then manually put 192...Fit=21 then manually go up to 24. I'm rambling.
