Hi, All,

J using RAC 2008 here.

I need to have a door hardware family that has multiple types in it (wire pull, round knob, etc.) -Easy so far.

I want that family to be nested into a casework panel family, for instance, for inclusion into a larger casework cabinet family. -still OK.

I placed 2 shared on/off parameters for the hardware options and when nested into the Panel family they work correctly (still OK (I thought)) but once that 'Panel & Pull' family is loaded into a project the pulls fail to toggle between horizontal pull and vertical pull: the horizontal pull just disappears when that type is chosen.

What am I missing?

I am attaching the test project file (with the families in it) and the Shared Parameter file for reference..

Thanks for any help,

-J

Okay,

There is a much easier way to do this rather than using visibility parameters.  And that's to use family type labels.  These types of parameters allow you to select from any famiy category of a given type (in your case casework) that is loaded into the host family and to simply just pick the name of the type of casework model you want.

If you select you handles and go to its instance properties you'll see last on the list is label.  This is where the family type parameter will be applied.

Give it a go.  If you have trouble call back...
