When I do a region raytrace, the resulting rendering is clipped and left blank below the 0'-0" elevation of my model. Is there a setting that i'm missing which is not allowing the full render to happen.

Region raytrace is done so be select this option then drawing a window around the selection you wish to render. If you wish to render the whole view within the crop region simply use the raytrace option.
