Hi

I'm very new to Revit and I'm trying to create a window that goes from the top of the slab to the underside of the slab, plus I need to add a slab cover for the exposed slab from floor to floor. I have no idea where to start, do I create it from scratch, can I modify an existing curtain wall, or is there any examples on how to create what I need?

Thanks

I'm including a section and an image for better understanding.

I would use a curtain wall for the task.  See the attached sample file for ideas on how it can be accomplished.

Based on the section you attached, I would say to use a curtain wall between the slabs (set the base constraint to level 1, and the top constraint to Level 2, for example).  You'll want to make a curtain wall that has the vertical and horizontal mullions already spaced at the intervals you want, or create a curtain wall system that has no spacing defined so you can use the Curtain Grid tool to create your own grid spacing.

For the cover I personally would probably create a profile family of the slab cover, then load the profile into the project and use Host Sweep>Floor Slab Edge to run the sweep around the edge of the slabs.  This makes it ultra easy to manage later in the project.

Let us know if you need some elaboration on how to do any of this.

Good luck and welcome to RC!

Thank you guys so much, It makes sense what you guys said.

I'll probably have more questions later, but this is a great start.

Now, similar situation but different condition where the lower panel is metal backed up by a stud wall. (see attachement)

Do I use a stacked wall with curtain wall?

If you think of anything else that could help, please feel free to post it.

Thanks again

Fmejia

Make a wall type that includes the metal on the exterior and the metal studs on the interior (with whatever is in between).  Make the curtain wall with the Curtain grid and make a horizontal grid line at the TOP of where the lower wall is.  Select the panel that is created (by tabbing through until the panel is selected, let us know if you are not sure what this means), un pin it if necessary then select the wall type from the type selector drop down box.  It will replace the panel with the wall type.
