I created a door and when try to place it on a wall i get an error that says "Can't cut instance 36X84 out of wall". Why would I be getting this message? Is it something i did when i created the door? I appreciate any help i can get on this. thanks, Matt

Look at your family & make sure the opening cut is in the right place vertically - it more than likely is. The second possibility is that you are trying to place the door above or below where your wall is. Make sure the floor offset in both the family and the instance are where you want them.

post your family and we can take a look to see if there are any constraint problems

Most likely it will be a constraint error in the family. Open it up and change the thickness of the wall to match that in your project. You'll probably find you'll get an error regarding unable to create geometry or something similar. Reconstrain the element so it can flex for different wall thicknesses. HTH.
