I would like to make a partition type detail with text and thought creating a component might work however, I'm not sure how to insert text as apart of the component. Any suggestions regarding how to create partition types or for inserting text as a part of a new component would be greatly appreciated.

When you say component I think you mean family? Generally for partition type details we use a legend and legend components and then annotate them up with linework and detail components. You'll find all your wall types are selectable as a legend component. HTH.
