This is one area where AutoCad still outshines Revit. I can't stand forever dragging witness lines out of a model and placing them approximately because they don't snap to anything. Why can't the Revit development guys just look at the more than 20 years worth of customer requests made to Acad. Many of these were a great help in acad's development over all releases. I realise they have to make a dollar, but things like witness line snaps and text overrides have been part of acad since I can remember, this is mundane, run of the mill stuff which has been neglected. These features should have been included from the outset, and future releases should concentrate on A BETTER RENDERING ENGINE and 64 bitness etc. I import my models into 3ds Max like many other users rather than insult my work by placing it through the ACCU-BLENDER. Revit is a great piece of software, there is no doubting that, but I still find my self using acad to do slab and footing plans & structural details etc. because the Revit guys obviously havn't heard about TYPICAL DETAILS which can be used over and over without having to spend time adjusting them to every job (with a few exceptions of course). These type of details need text overrides so that numbers can be replaced by text to indicate 'Depth' & 'Width' etc. and these are merely referenced to a table of values showing the "Depth" & "Width". And these details are obviously drawn NOT TO SCALE. Sorry about the waffling-Happy new year.
