Just trying to put in 4 dutch gables in a roof. I managed to do it by cutting hole in a hipped roof and inserting a gable roof in  the hole cut. Problem is once I make the dutch gables Revit wont let me join roofs. I end up having the contact line between the 2 roofs in all the elevations , 3 model etc.Do you know of a easier way of putting in dutch gables?

Ive attached a jpg of the house and roof .

You should be able to join them. I do this all the time.  cut a section and make sure they are aligned.  You can also extend the edge of the lower roof up to the wall at the gable end and it works great.  You can use an opening to cut the main roof or just edit its sketch.

You don't have to cut the hole in the hip roof to achieve what you want. I leave the hip alone and make a small little gable piece to fill in the end.

Check very carefully that your edit lines line up correctly with your existing roof. Sometimes you have to zoom in pretty good to see your error. I have gotten used to using the pick tool and align when doing this, and also use reference planes liberally to help you since they don't print unless you tell them to specifically.

I have found it easier to use Join Geometry rather than Join roof. Never had much luck with join roof. I make my dutch gables with Roof by Extrusion. Go to your elevation roof by extrusion, pick a plane and draw your gable.
