I am having trouble with outlets and switches being too big when placed on a plan at 1/8 scale. I'm not sure I completely understand electrical plans in Revits. Any advice?

Create a symbol for your electrical device like you would in AutoCAD.
Load that symbol (annotation) into you actual family.
Place the annotation in the plan view of your family
Besure sure to use object styles so you can turn them on an off if needed.
Symbols (annotation families) will scale with the veiw.
