I am using Revit MEP 2008. I have made a projector family and it gives me the NO symbol when I try to insert it into the ceiling plan of the linked architectural file. Any help, I have attached the projector family I created. Thanks

I haven't been lucky enough to be involved with much interdisciplinary collaboration on revit yet. However, I'd imagine you'd need to use the copy/monitor tool on the ceiling to create a linked duplicate of the ceiling in order to host your projector.

I am not sure if that is it, The stock fixtures (light fixtures) connect to it just fine. The projector which I made from scratch will not. I eill try the copy/monitor tool again to make sure I got the ceiling level though.

Many if not most of the stock fixtures in MEP are workplane based. This means that they do not need a 'host' to attach themselves to, just a plane which can be in the linked file. Your projector is 'ceiling' based which means that you need a physical ceiling in yur model in order for the projector to be placed since it needs the ceiling as a 'host'. I was able to place your projector just fine into a ceiling. Your answer may be to create a 'work plane' based version of the projector. The workplane based family is the default mode that should be used for all MEP content for this very reason.
