it seems curtain walls can not be accessed by a legend (or at least an elevation view). Is there a way to set up an elevation of a curtain wall that is not merly detail lines?

that would work but if the curtain wall were moved or deleted, I would have to update my dimensions. I would also only be able to have one elevation per view. What is nice about the legend is the ability to position multiple elevations in relation to one another.

What we've done is create a new elevation key and elevation called glazing elevation. We then place this elevation key outside the crop region and drop the generated view to the sheets. We then turn everything off in the view except for the curtainwalls.

This works fairly well; however, you really need the new crop annotation tool in 2008 to hide all these extra elevation keys from showing up on the sheets.

We created a multi-category tag that we tag the windows and the curtainwalls with in the plans so that they are keyed alike. The glazing elevation keys are not shown on our printed plans.

Hope this helps.

Gotcha. I am doing this now actually. But the Elevation tags wont print in the final documents as long as you have that option checked when printing.

Correct, but we wanted an elevation tag that would be the same for curtain walls and windows. We created a custom multi-category tag that works with both component's shared parameters. We then just hide the elevation tags used to generate the curtain wall elevations.

Good idea. would you mind if i took a look at how you setup you rmulticategory tag? we havent delved into that a lot yet here and I know it would help us with some of our other ongoing issues. If you dont mind I would like to download your tag and check it out.

Sure. I've attached it for your use below. Again, This way we can tag windows, curtain walls, and storefronts with a similar tag. We use CW-XX for curtain wall, SF-XX for storefront, etc.

I might add that we are trying different ways on different projects, but this appears to work well.

I'm stil missing the possibility of having curtain walls and interior glass wall divisions in a legend. It should be incorporated in 2010 version!!
