Hi. I made a soffit Component and I put a detail componet that is a hatch pattern in it to show up in the floor plan. BUT it doesnt show up. why doesnt it show up and what do I need to do to have a hatch pattern show up for a component that is above the cut plane?

ok... i can see detail items in components that are part of casework families but why not as a generic model?

Can you see your generic family in plan view? Usually if the model isn't touching the cut plane, it doesn't show up at all. A little trick is to attach a line to your model in the family editor reaching downward until it crosses where the cut plane is.

 

Also, do you have your model listed as a subcategory and does it have a hatch pattern under the subcategory section in your project. Meaning, you create a subcategory under settings>object styles in the family editor, give it materials and hatch properties, then select your solid form you made, select properties and select your subcategory. THEN, when you import into your project, your generic model will have a subcategory attached to it. If it doesn't show up, check your "generic model" subcategories in the project object styles and check to see if it has the hatch pattern associated with it.

 

Not positive about your soffit component. Is it a generic ceiling based model?

 

If this doesn't fix it, you could post the family and I could take a look at it and see if I can find anything out.
