I am currently in Revit 9.1 and have two very similar projects. One is completed for construction w/ all the details that I need. The second project is completed excpet for the details. I want to copy/paste my details from the finished project to the unfinished project. It seems as though all details components should be able to copy easily but they are not. Also I understand that when you cut a detail view and draft over it there are 3d componenets that are attached to it which makes it difficult to export to anouther project. Is there any way that I can just save the 2D and export it. There is a save view and save as 2D option but they do not seem to work. Has anyone successfully been able to complete this process?  Thanks.

Try the File>Insert from File>Views and choose the 'master' project that contains the 2D views you wish to transfer.  It will only work for drafting views and schedules though.

Most details I do are '2D embelleshments' that are placed on top of a live section cut of the model.  These elements can be grouped (version 9.1) and saved to disk as a group.  (not sure what happens in 2008 with this method)  These 2D groups can then be loaded into your project and placed over the model.
