I am new at Revit and just completed the tutorial included with the software. I am just beginning my first project (custom residential design) and am having problems with the imported contours created in ADT. I can import the ADT drawing successfully but cannot get the imported image to convert to elevation points and contours. The contour lines in the ADT drawing have been set correctly and do note the individual 2'-0" contours. I also have been using CDV Systems courseware and have a similar problem with their site tutorial. However, only some of the contours on the plan convert and some do not. The imported site plan was created by CDV, so I assume it was prepared properly. Am I brain dead and just missing some simple instruction? I hope so. Rather be brain dead than to think of having to prepare all my contour drawings in Revit. I depend on a lot of information passed on to me by my civil engineers in ACAD.

2'-0" contours might be relatively flat if the contour lines not closely sided. First thing, ensure you imported the ADT or ACAD file to the correct units. If everything is ok as described, Properly you can go to setting>site setting to check out your contours initial setting. Sometimes, I encountered problems with the initial site setting whereby the contour lines become too dense to show the terrains. Adjust the setting and see and change to the topo terrain. Hope this help!
