Hi I'm a bit confused about what the dashed red rectangles with grip handles actually are. He describes them as view ranges. I look it up in the help & it seems to only relate to vertical settings. The picture clearly shows it in plan. What are these? I'm using Revit Structure whereas he using Building. Is that the difference? Thanks in advance Dave f.

Hi Dave, The red dashed rectangles are plan regions (available from the view category of the design bar in Revit building). Plan regions allow you to cut through an area at a different cut plane height, allowing you to show objects above/below the default cut plane. I'm not sure if this is available in Revit Structure or not. HTH, Troy

. Yes Dave, I do make an incorrect reference to the view range / vs plan region. In my REVIT Rocks blog I do make the clarification. First you make the 'Plan Region' (the red dashed lines) then you can alter the 'View Range' within the Plan Region area independantly of the rest of the view. You can have many Plan regions as long as they do not overlap. Sorry for the confusion. DG
