Is there any way for elements that are dependent on other elements (such as doors, windows, openings, etc.) to be added to an option without adding each wall, floor, or roof that is being cut through?  Options are basically useless without this ability-- I end up with duplicate walls and floors all over my model.  Is there an easier way?

Your doing something wrong if you have duplicate walls/doors/windows, etc. in the same view. Either you didn't activate the design option before you created the elements or don't fully understand the concept behind design options. But to answer your question, if an element needs another to exist, e.g. window needs a wall, then you have to include both elements in the option. This can get overwhelming, especially with roofs but once you have the concept down, it pretty straight forward. It just takes practice. There are some webcasts from previous Autodesk University classes that may also help.

I thought that was the answer; thanks.

I was a little unclear in my description:

The duplicate elements in the same view are each in a different option, but I guess there is no way around that.
