How can I create handrail or guardrail on a ramp or stair with the horizontal extentions on both endsas per ADA?

Using a special end baluster.

Go to Load Family-->Then click on the web content link on the popup window OR check your DVD.  There is a sample Revit file full or railings, one full of stairs and one full of repeating detail components that have this presetup.  Then you can simply copy and paste these into your project.

I've been working with the different extension and post downloads and am having difficulty using the "offset-start" ones (ie post-round handrail-extension-offset-start and handrail-round-extension-offsest-start).  Whenever I try to edit/set the baluster placement/post properties using the offset-start extensions Revit gives an error that it cannot make the extension...

some of my questions about this are whether it has to do with the original file? with the cut geometry in the family? with the type of railing? with the railing properties? etc....

any suggestions?  has anyone else run into this problem?
