What is the best way to have the demo lines show up on the demo plan and the new door show up on the new plan?

If I add the door in the demo phase, then select the door properties and change created to new, it works, the demo lines stay in the demo phase and the door ahows up new. But only for the duration of that session, when I re-open the file the next day, it all goes to the new phase.

Likewise, how can I change the infill wall of a demolished door in an existing wall so that it shows up as a new wall on the new phase? the infills look like existing walls on the new plan.

HELP!

Sounds like you aren't using the appropriate phase filters for each of your views.

In your new construction plan set the phase filter to show complete if you don't want to see any demolished items or view overrides.  Or use a phase filter that has existing overridden, demolished set to not displayed and new set to not overridden.

Basically you should only need two phases in your case.  Existing & New construction.  If it is a little complicated you can add an intermediate demolition phase.

You will have your existing wall and existing door.  Demolish the existing door in new construction phase.  An infill is automatically created in the new construction phase.  Place your new door in the new construction phase, a demolition opening should be automatically created.

Mr. Spot I do have the exact same issue. I am not following you totally though on the solution you suggested. Here is what i am doing:

I have existing, demo and new phase plans set up. I have a new door to be punched out into the existing wall. FOr some reason the new door is there when placed in the new phase plan but in the demo phase plan it shows up as a solid infill wall. Shouldnt it be shown as a demo part of the existing wall in the demo phase plan? I am getting what the original poster said by inserting a new door in the demo phase and then changing the door to created in new manually. The demo lines show up but then become solid again after i reopen Revit the next time. Please help!

Did anyone figure this out? I am having the exact same issue as jmqrsq. On our demo plans we show a dashed opening for the doors that will be added in existing walls. I have tried everything to get the lines to show dased on the demo plan.

Nevermind. I have a workaround that will work for now. I used the linework tool to make the lines for the opening dashed. It is not a great solution but it will have to do. I hope they add some functionality with phases to the next release.

I have figure dit out. the demo items need to be demoed in the new construction phase. Revit sees demo and new happening at the same time. If you then set up your demo view to show phase:new and filters to show previous and demo it will work perfectly. No need for a demo phase at all.
