Has anyone else had a problem with elevational views having a large "select" area when on the sheet...even though the crop region is small? Anyone know how to fix this problem??

Yes, i understand this to do with curtain wall functionality, and it not limited to elevations. It is rather frustrating and there is no fix to it as yet and by the looks of things it wasn't fixed in the build released today either.
