Hi, I'm new.

I'm trying to make a spiral staircase, but I'm working in a small house and need them to be about 5 1/2' diameter. Revit will only let me make a run at a minimum diameter of 7' 2". Any smaller and it says "cannot create run, radius is too small."

How can I make a smaller spiral staircase?

Hi,

 At the first place, be sure that the extent of your staircase i.e the height which it covers is compatible to the number of risers. If diameter is small and floor to floor height is more, there are chances that revit cannot complete the staircase structure in given small diameter. Please revise this point in your project.

But to be clear, i tried it out here and created a spiral staircase with run diameter of 3' 0" with 18 risers and I did not receive any error dialogue while doing this.

Also, please check the top and bottom offsets in stair properties where we set the 2 extent levels of staircase and check whether if they can take up the number of risers you wish to create.

Attached is the project where i created this staircase that I mentioned above.
