I've been a long time AutoCAD and ADT user. My new Job requires REVIT. I need help getting up to speed and understanding this beast. I've inherited a 70% complete model. It’s been a challenge modify and adding elements.  I'll be getting into construction documents within the next month. What’s a good resource?  Thanks in advance - E

Revit is a tough one...kind of a hybrid between a traditional 3D modeling package and a 2D cad package.  Since I started using it in school (for a final project) last fall, I went through the tutorial and built the sample building.  After that, I used it to start to build a building on my own, using Google to search for questions I had.  A lot of the answers will come from blogs like Revit OpEd and Revit for Beginners.  Just search for a question, such as "splitting wall face +revit" and you'll get some answers; these guys are great at thoroughly explaining concepts that the help files don't cover very well.  This site is also a wealth of info, thanks to the great moderators.  I never really used any books, although there are several out there that cover Revit and its workings.

Overall, just keep practicing, seeing how things work, and soon you'll be a pro.  It takes a while to understand what Revit is doing and why, but once you get that, the rest is just details.

And I must say, detailing in Revit is SO much better than detailing in CAD.  I now volunteer to do the details in our office!

try out dgcad.com. he has some free video tutorials that are top notch. if you like what you see, then you can buy the package from him and it covers pretty much everything you can imagine. very helpful.

+1 on DG Cad's tutorials.

They have been very helpful for me.  They did take a little bit of getting used to - listening to the instructions while watching closely - but once I sort of trained myself...

 Good stuff!
