It would be great to be able to call out views in text, for example "see 3/S3.2 for additional information", and tie the number to the detail, so it changes automaticly if the detail is moved.

By any chance the newest version of Revit grants this wish? (using RA 2008 here)

If not, then I wish for a suitable work-around since callout tags are very limited and hard to work with for trying to work around this issue.  To be clear and very similar to what TJKENNEDY said above- I would like to type the text "See 1/A503 for details" and have the text in bold be a callout link to the detail.  Because if by any chance that detail or number changes, then thats going to be a long waste of time to modify and clean text throughout the entire project.  Whereas Revit can just make a simple text callout that would automatically update and make then make themselves look like geniuses.

This is exactly what I was looking for. Does anybody know if this has been added to 2009?

Instead of writing about it - VOTE for it.  Check out if it's on the AUGI site and the votes will help determine what changes are made to REVIT.

I know this is a crap work-around, but why not create a new callout head, and when you add a label, use prefix's and suffix's to add the text you want? Although the text width and the actual text cannot be changed, at least you'll have text before and after the detail reference.
