the following message has come up:

"It has not been possible to reconcile the workset differences between your local project and the central location."

Is there any way of reconciling the worksets so that I dont loose all my work in the central location!

 Please if anyone can help.

Nic

I'm afraid your local file is out of sync and you will have to make a new one. You can however copy and paste your work to the new local file if that would be faster. Ipersonally save every thirty minutes for this very reason.

This problem has nothing to do with frequency of saving, it is a database management problem.  Likely what happened is someone opened the central file directly and changed the workset structure.  This would leave your local copy unable to synch back up with the central[master database]

If yu are going to change the workset structure it should be done in the central file, but yu need to let everyone on the project team know to save to central BEFORE making the changes.  Then everyone needs to be out of all local copies and then it is safe to change the workset structure int he central file.  After the changes in the central file are made, then new local copies need to be established for everyone.  [hint: do not open the central file to make local copies, use Window Explorer]  The only time the central file should ever be opened directly is for management purposes.

I know the problem wasn't with the frequency of saving, but saving more frequently certainly limits of work can be potentially lost.
