wall lines - using spline and ellipse linescan anyone advise if there is a way to draw walls using a spline or ellipse line in Revit 9.1 ?

Interesting .... While ellipses and splines can be drawn as line work, they don't appear on the wall options.  I would think they could fix that.  In the mean time, I guess you will have to approximate them using arc sections.

A potentially easier and faster fix might be to extrude a mass using the spline/ellipse for your footprint and make a wall-by-face on the side with the shape you want.

I tried this method of picking wall by face on an ellipse mass.   It created  2 walls which now are very difficult to edit  - can't easily adjust the height  and I can't attach to a roof or wall (want to attach to the bottom of a sloping elliptical roof).

Any help??? - it seems the conclusion on other threads is to make the ellipse out of multiple radii arcs, etc which seems very cumbersom and difficult to adjust as you develop the design.

You are right that it is hard to edit and right that the alternatives are cumbersome.

For me, since the masses are modelling guidelines that don't print and can be turned off, I leave them in place. If I need to adjust the height, for instance, I show mass (to make sure it's still there), delete wall, edit mass, reapply wall by face. It's not perfect, but it's easier than some alternatives if you absolutely have to have an elliptical wall.

Be aware, if you edit the mass to form a curved (like arched) opening, it won't cut out when you apply the wall by face. It pretends the opening is not there...same as with simple arced walls with arched openings.

This method (of making mass and using wall by face) does not seem to work with splines imported from dwg?
