I am  new member, new to Revit and have  a lot of questions. Here is one of them:

I am trying to edit and create family types (in this case a countertop with lavitories). When I choose properties > type properties > Preview > there is no image in the interactive viewing pane no mater what view I choose. Is there a setting somewhere that I need to select? Help!

Since you are in your family, you don't need or have a preview - just look at it in plan elevation or 3d.

Also, is it a custom countertop?  Either way, there are already families done by other people that you can easily modify available for download from the Downloads section of revitcity.  Rule #1 in Family creation: does the family already exist somewhere else?  Rule #2: do I trust the person that made the family if it does already exist... >.>

That's of course, only if you get past "Does it need to be modeled" Smile

Need help? I'm probably in my chat room!

You fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in asia, but only slightly less well known is this! Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line!
