I am making a footrail starting with a floor support 6" from the left reference plane and repeating every 36". I would like user to be able to pick the beginning and end points and Revit to decide how many footrails need to be there. Is this possible? I've scoured the Revit help files and couldn'tfind what I needed, I think. I did find repeating a detail component but this was not an option in the family editor. I also checked out the array turorial on this site but didn't quite understand how to appy it to this situation. Thanks for yoiur help.

Oops - that would be "backets need to be there". I've tried coping the first bracket and added a paremeter this formula to the parameter Parameter: Graphics Value: 2 Formula: (Bracket Spacing/3' 0" + 1 but I'm not sure I'm going about it in the right way. Am I? I get an "inconsistant Units" error message.

you could look into two tutorials to create a family based on the "generic model line based" family template, sadly within the software there is no specific guidelines for this family creation but if you read on the 2d line base family and also review the creation of the parametric family and nested families in the tutorials that should help you, you need to combine the knowledge for the 2pick families with the way they greate the array of the webs in the truss in the parametric family. I hope this is of any help

Have a look at this blog: http://revit-alize.blogspot.com/2006/04/two-pick-or-not.html It helped me heaps to understand arrays in families. I recommend doing the exercise, not just reading it. See how you go.
