Is it possible to begin a design by imbeding data from a spreadsheet such as a room schedule and use that data to assist in laying out room sizes.  I have seen where it can calculate differences in desired room sizes and actual.  I know this process has something to do with schedule keys, shared parameters and claculated values, but i dont know how to set it up or use it efficiently.

I realize the above thread may not be perfectly clear.  I have a little text that introduced me to the idea...but it does not tell me a process to set it up.  See the attached file to get a better understanding of what I am looking for.  The schedule to the side of the drawing might be too small to read.  It is a room schedule and the columns are as follows:

Area, Desired Area, Difference (SF), and Difference (%)

How can I set up this schedule so that these columns talk to eachother: e.g. Desired area - Area = Difference

Calculated values in the schedule. Click on Fields and Calculated Values. It's easy from there.

How do I add a field that I can insert my own values for?

e.g.

Desired Area: office1-150sf; office2-175sf; office3...

Add a parameter call Desired Area, then add a calculated Value the formula is Area-Desired Area. See Attached
