The weld symbol that came with Revit is not really right... The Weld all around and the field weld parts of it are not in the correct place. Also it was not possible to do a staggered fillet weld. Lastly the weld symbols were just alot bigger than I usually drew them. I found one on the AUGI forum, which had been fixed for the all around and field weld symbol locations but that was it. I took that and reduced the size of all the symbols and added parameters for a staggered weld symbol. I just started using it so it has not been fully tested but it appears to work like I wanted it too... Here it is in case anybody else is not happy with the one that came with Revit...

This was great thanks for sharing. Can you direct me to where I can gather more knowledge on how to edit families in Revit? Thanks

Thanks for this!  I snagged this awhile back and finally got around to using it. Your time and effort is much appreciated and noticed!

I was interested how you modified the weld symbol like the weld symbol-fillet.  When I try to open them up for editing I get a file with nothing in them.  You help is greatly appreciated...

Wow not sure why I did that, maybe just put them back like they were?? Anyway, Open your fillet family, type vv (I think that was a built in shortcut for visibility/graphics, but you can get it on the pull down menus too) click the "annotations catagories" tab, check the box that says "show annotation catagories in this view", click apply and then zoom to fit and it is there.

That did it.  Thanks.  I'm new to Revit and trying my best to get up to speed on all the differences between ADT 2008 and Revit.  I've been using ADT for 15+ years so this Revit interface is all so new.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

One more quick question.  I'm trying to make the entire weld symbol smaller.  But all of my attempts to make the horizontal line shorter end up not making the leader attach to the modified weld symbol.  Did you modify (shorten) the horizontal weld line and if so where do you tell it how to attach the leader line to a new location?

Thanks for the help...

I wonder why there was no metric weld symbol with smaller scale available on Internet. I had no choice but to spend my own time to study the imperial weld symbol. Have modified it and come out with my own metric weld symbol. Texts and symbols are generally 2 mm in size. Put it here to share with everyone. Please give me comment if you have any suggestion.

In the edit type properties I see where you select the type of arrowhead you want, but I don't see how to activate a leader?  I've historically just drawn a separate one, but this weld symbol has the same issue where you can't snap the leader to the center of the weld-all-around mark, so you just have to kind of wiggle it in there best you can.  Am I doing it wrong?
