I am working on a project where the structural engineer is drawing the glu-lams and joist for the roofs. When I attempt to copy/monitor the linked file I can select the columns but not not the glu-lams and joists. Am I missing something or is this not a function that Revit can do yet.

I don't know i it supported our not, but why not simply link the structural model into your architectural model and skip the copy/monitor process?  There is a paper out on the Autodesk University site that explains the large building linked and copy/monitor process quite well.

Go to: http://au.autodesk.com/

Establish your free account and go to class BD32-3 Effective Collaboration Revit DWG DWF and download the handout.

Also download and view all of the other Revit courses as there is a wealth of good information out there.
