When I try to rotate the orientation of my building by selecting everything in a plan view, none of the components are rotating with the rest of the building, i.e. all of the casework & furniture are left in their original positions while the walls, floors, roofs, windows and doors rotate. This may be a very simple thing, excuse my inexperience.

Try turning on your crop region from view properties, then select that box and rotate your view.
