I'm using the elliptical opening family loaded from the web library. It works fine when placed in an interior wall. As part of a renovation, I'm placing them in exterior walls with the result that there is no visible line work in elevation or 3D. Short of working around them by demoliting and rebuilding an existing wall does anyone have any ideas? I couldn't find any difference between the two instances in the VG Properties.

Try editing the family. When in the family click on the opening cut and have a look at the visibility settings. They may be turned oof in 3D and elevations.
