I have this one called into Autodesk, but I figured I’d also ask here. I created a barreled ceiling with the create tool and voided out the bottom to create the barrel. Fairly simply and quick………but when I added a can (from imperial library) to the ceiling the can remains at the bottom of the original ceiling mass and does not attached itself in the proper location, but the angle of the can looks good and it creates a hole in the ceiling. Last word from Autodesk was that they were still looking into it. See the attached file for clarification. Thanks in advance…….

If you figured this out, please let me know. I need to do the same thing. I took a 5" can I donwloaded from Revitcity and added a variable which puts it into the roof-basically just an offset from a theoretical ceiling line that it seems Revit is using. Unfortunately, you'll just have to play with the offset to get it to work; it should be somewhere around the thickness of the roof, at least it is in my case. (1/8" less). I created the roof using the create tool and a sweep. Let me know if it works for you (or works at all) or if you found a better solution. Cheers. Bill PS This is a work in progress and I am a VERY new Revit user (maybe a month), so there is probably a lot of stuff you'll want to modify. If you do, please let me know so I can see the error of my ways.

Bill, Nice try, but no cigar!!! This is the reply that Autodesk gave me: The only thing I heard was... "Only inplace ceilings cause the issue," I'd anticipated hearing more, but I just sent them an e-mail asking if more information would be forth coming. I'll let you when I hear back from them. As you can imagine this didn't help either. I'm still waiting for a real reply!! Besides I think the projects is dead, so I'm not really in rush for my answer. Happy modeling..........
