Does Revit structure have all the capabilities of Revit Building plus the structural components?  Would I have to buy my boss a copy of Revit Building and Revit Structure?

There are a lot of functionalities of Revit Building in Revit Structure, but not all of them... and visa versa.  You would need to get a copy of both to have the full functionality of both.

Can you give me a few examples of what Revit Building functions Structure can't do?

 Thanks

Revit Building is purpose-built for architects. Revit Structure is purpose-built for structural engineers.

Revit Structure maintains an Analytical model which exports to engineeringprograms..

Revit Structure has additional modeling properties that Revit Building structuralelements don't include. For example, you can apply coping to a beam toprovide a more accurate detail view. You can also specify the end conditionsof a beam to be a moment or cantilever, and have the coarse level of detailview (the drafting view) display it with the proper symbols at theendpoints.

There are other tools as well - placing rebar in concrete structural elements.

Revit Building is architectural. Revit Structure hasadded tools for structural engineering/analysis.details, etc.

I really don't think anyone has found anything in revit building that's not

in Revit Structure.. Lots of stuff in Structure that's not in Building tho..

Revit Systems also has everything that building has and more except for the site tools..

You might think why not  have Revit Structure if it has everything and more-

but if you are not doing a lot of structural/structural anaylisis work why have your

design bar and everywhere else all cluttered up with structural components.
