Yup, a newbie here! Been using AutoCAD (now 2007) to do 2D space plans/elevations for Residential Interior Designers. Now have Revit, would like to move into 3D. Have some experience with C4D, ArchiCAD. Here is the question. There is a ton of stuff in Revit I will not use (at least for now). My clients want to have 3D view of interior rooms, with accurate ceilings, windows, doors, fireplaces, etc, and SCALED 3D FURNITURE. I get measurements from them (not dealing with detailed architectural measurement. ie, wall space is 42" to edge of window, window is 36" wide). What is the best way to learn what I need - how to get windows and door in the right places not using center points, how to model and changes sizes of furniture, how to deal with soffits, niches, ceiling vaults etc. I am willing to buy books, pay for training, whatever. Most books have about 1 chapters worth that helps me, the rest just does not apply. If this is the wrong program to used, too bad for me, I am a work from home mommy and do not have unlimited budget, so gotta make it work! (Diapers are priority over software!) Thanks!

Hi, Here are some my advices: 1. Learn the basic from tutorial: draw wall, floor, roof, ceiling, place door, windows, light fittings 2. Get used to daily used functions and shortcut keys: copy, move, mirror, array, trim, split, offset, ZO, ZW, ZE, SD, HL, WF etc. tab is very useful too. 3. Learn to create revit family and/ or modify from ex. revit family and/ or in-place family 4. Learn assigning material to object; placing camera/ walkthru; assigning lighting, and exporting image/ movie. That should cover your basic needs. other functions, please learn from revit tutorial and/or post your questions here or AUGI and let the masters help to solve your problems..like I did. ^-^ Good luck
