Hi Guys,

I have a question in relation to materials.

When I start a new project without a template there are about 8 standard materials.  If I create a new material it only seems to be available to that project.  How can I create a material that will appear in new & old projects?

And how is this material then shared amongst computers?

I guess I was hoping it would work somewhat like AutoCAD with hatch pattern files, once a pattern is created it remains available to all files new & old drawings and is easily transferred to another computer by copying the hatch pattern file.

Any help would be great. We mainly use the material for colour only so rendered properties are not really utilized.

Thanks.

Keep a record of customations such as line types and materials as you work on  a project and note which ones you would like to reuse.

These should then be put into your template file. You can create them from scratch again or use the "transfer project standards" command to transfer them to the template or other existing projects.
