I am placing an Autocad file with multiple drawings into Revit. Is there a way to crop out the different items on the sheets? OR do I need to break them out and import them as separate DWG's?

Thanks for any help.

If you import the .dwg into a drafting view, you can make callouts of each of the views you want.

Have you made a custom 'import lineweights.txt' file. This file should be setup so that Revit interprets your .ctb on import, and scales the lineweights of your .dwg accordingly.  If you have not, it is pretty easy, but a little time consuming.  Look under the File menu in the Import/Export Settings.  Then tell Revit what line weight each color represents.  Save this file, and you only have to do it once per .ctb.  It's a bit of a tangent, but worth considering.

 Good Luck

Thanks for the info. I did as you said and the callout created a new drafting page that references the newly created callout. However when I view the page there is nothing there.

Any ideas? What did I do wrong?

Thanks,Doug

Sorry.  It seems that I have given you a bit of bad advise.  I tried it, and could not get it to work.  I even looked at the visibility to make sure that imports were turned on, but they were and still didn't show up.  If someone else knows why, please let us know.

In the mean time, I have set up my .dwg layouts in such a way that I could drag the whole thing onto a sheet as one.  If you want these pieces on different sheets, then you will probably need to import them separately.

Sorry, again for leading you astray. I hope this different method works better for you.
