I have set up levels for my project and created my model... I am now trying to create a set of documents.  I want to name levels at different elevations the same name.  (IE) T.O. Steel occurs in multiple places- one at 20'-0" and another at 29'-0".  I can rename one, but when i go to rename the second one it say i must have a unique name... is there a way around this? Can I name levels the same?

Short answer no.  Revit is a database and levels need to have unique names.

You can name the levels similar like T.O. Steel - Floor, T.O. Steel - Roof etc.

Why do you need the levels to be named the same? If you are putting views on sheets and want the view names to be the same you can do that. If you want the levels to all be named the same in an elevation you are out of luck.

I have the same problem... I'm still kinda of new to this software... I just want levels but not plan views... why can't same names? have any of you here seen T.O.S. repeated in different levels?

I have never seen TOS as a level name.  I have seen it as an elevation indicator (height)...  Levels in Revit tie into plan views and are in essence - reference planes.  As such, each has to have a unique name.   You can always have an elevation (height) call-out that says TOS with the EL. 100.....etc.

Old thread... but for those seeking workarounds, a trick I use is to use two spaces between words or characters, if there's only one word on the level, you may try substituting a character, or if you're desperate I've seen it even work with a misspelled word:

WINDOW HEIGHT

WINDOW  HEIGTH

WIND0W HEIGHT

WIND0W  HEIGHT

WINDOW HEIGTH

WIND0W HEIGTH

WINDOW  HEIGHT

W1NDOW HEIGHT

W1NDOW  HEIGHT

WINDOW HE1GHT

WINDOW  HE1GHT ---- ETC.

I think these are all slightly different and would all work in one model, but may not be noticed in a set of plans (if they are it would be written off as a type-o), though I think if you need THIS many levels with one name you may need to re-think you're levels, because depending on what the levels are for and what you have constrained to them, it could be a HUGE pain in the neck, so use caution and descretion.
