Hello, We are about to begin the first larger scale project in our office using revit. As a general rule of practice, do most multi-user teams find it better for team members to check out worksets they are using, or simply borrow elements and leave worksets unchecked? Thanks.

Always Borrow and never checkout worksets is the methodology I use. This way they render themselves virtually invisible. The only thing to remember is sometimes people forget about them all together, so you need to ensure users understand that new elements will go into the "active workset" and to change this as necessary... HTH.

We've found one weakness in borrowing, concerning remote users. Each time you borrow an element, you have to tap the central file, and this can really slow you down if your remote connection is slow, and while your connection is taking it's time, other users are blocked from the central file. If you work remotely, or your office data system is stretched, consider owning worksets as a way to keep the speed up. When you own the workset, you set the central file all at once, then you can stay local while editing elements in that workset.
