hi all.  i will be attempting to set up office standards after the new year so we can begin to use revit on select projects.  the goal will be to eventually have all staff (17 people) using revit instead of ADT.  does anyone know if there is an easy way to get custom architectural font types loaded into revit?  we use archquick and archstyle a lot, and i'd like to use these as standards within tags, notes, etc.  any help would be greatly appreciated!  thanks all!

The hard part of this task is that Revit doesn't recognize shape fonts.  Those are the .shx fonts that are customary with AutoCAD.  Revit only uses TrueType fonts.  I have attached some of the .ttf fonts that most closely resemble the arch.shx font that we used to use.

Once you find a font you like you will need to edit all of Revit's tags, and change there font to your new font.  Just a suggestion, I would save your edited versions as new objects.  This will preserve the original Revit version, in case you need to go back.

It's not hard, just time consuming.  Good Luck.

archwest.....  thanks so much!  that's awesome!  i'll probably just update the tags on an as-needed basis while starting on new projects.  that'd make the most sense.  good suggestion on changing the file name.  thanks again for your help!

archwest...  you're right...  this platform is much more fun than ADT!  i'm in the latter part of the tutorial stuff, and this stuff is great!  i'm actually setting up a standard office titleblock right now.  i hate to ask again about the font stuff...  but do you by chance have anything that would be close to the ROMANC font (shx file) in autocad?  thanks a million!

I'm not familiar with that one.  I know that it was a big pain tring to find the right font to fit my needs.  I lucked into the one that we are using now.  I actually had to talk my boss into using city blueprint, until we fond these.

 Good luck on your search.

i'm sure i'll find something close enough...  plus, since this is a whole new platform (for us), i feel there needs to be some leniency on change, ya know?!  how long have you been using revit?>  do you use other programs too?  i'm a little worried about the learning curve for others in the office.  we're on ADT06/07.

I've been using Revit since version8.  I took right to it, and loved every little differance.  However, I am having a hard time with the older architects in the office. Even after paying for custom private classes, some of them are really hesitant.  I encourage them to come into the office for there first model, and work along side me.  It is a lot easier for them to ask for help when they are here, as opposed to there own office.  Not to mention that it saves us a lot of money if we can answer there questions right away rather than paying them to spend half the day trying to figure something out.

I also use VIZ, ADT, AutoCAD, Photoshop, and Sketch-up.  I don't like Sketch-up very much.
