You have several choices for curtain walls.  You can choose a solid panel, glass (the default), you can put in a wall type, you can put in a curtain wall door or you can define your own panel.  (You can also change the default material settings for glass ... but that will change every family that has "glass" in it.)

For windows,  you can redefine the glass in the family to some other material. Most  window type families are defined using "glass" but you can change them to ...glass 1, glass 2 or whatever then assign a material to that name.  When you do that, you can have different transparancies, colors, reflectivity and rather or not the material is self luminescent.

Lots of choices ... experiment.

you should be able to go to Settings>Materials>Glass(or your specific material) and adjust the transpareny here.

Skylights are the same way. You would make a (roof hosted?) family and the glass would be a solid mass (an extrusion for example). Then you would give this mass your material assignment. You then insert the family into your drawing onto your roof surface.
