I am trying to start a site plan for a project. I haven't been able to add anything to the building model, so through reading it seems like i need to start a new project specifically for the site, but i am not sure. I don't have a site template to start with. Any help and/or site template would be appriciated.

you getting me confused here  what do you mean "can't add anything to the building model"? your site and your model do not need to be seperated. in your template file, go to the "site" plan in your project browser, you can do topography from scratch or from an imported DWG or SAT files. just a thought: right click anywhere in your project browser and make sure "Site" is ticked to get the site tools pallete...
