Is it possible to create an irregular shaped callout rather than the rectangular callout?

No. You're stuck with the rectangle.

On that note, is there a way to either turn the callout line off on specific callouts or create a new callout view type that has no callout line. We have enlarged unit floor plans and need to reference them without having a box around every single unit.

I have a similar problem. I am creating enlarged plans and interior elevations to go with them and i really need a way to turn off the lines and retain the tag - our rooms aren't rectangles and the reference plan needs to be accurate. is it possible to do this?

Simple - hide the call-out in the view ... The view doesn't go away. And if you want to have a funky shaped callout line with your own call-out bubble, you could do that using your own linework .... just like you had to in you know what.

i had hoped that there was a way to keep the call out bubble. i have tried changing the visibility of that particular object under the object styles menu but it applies the chagnes to alll views and i simply wanted to change them in the finish plan

If you just want to show it in one plan, you can use visibility/graphics overrides (View -> Visibility/Graphics) to override the settings in Object Styles for a single view.

when i edit the object styles it will apply the changes to all of the views in the project (i would like the call-out boundries on my wall sections to stay in-tact). is there another way to access the call-out boundry setting that is view or element specific?
