When I view door and windows in plan the cut plane appears different to the plan - for example - I see a cut through the very top of the door frame when the view range for the plan is set at 1.2m. Help!

there could be a difference in the cut plane value in the family...check that..

Thanks - that does seem pretty obvious - I had been searching for the view range of the family in 3D view - note to self....... and anyone else - you can only adjust the view range in plan.

hmmm... may have spoken too soon - have adjusted view range in family - cut in project is still bad.
Anyone have any other suggestions?

as the experts remind us - families are tricky. only been at this revit for 2 years, but i find the visibilty settings in families to be very important. maybe check that? eg "only show if instance is cut"?
not sure what else to suggest.
